JISEAS published the second volume of the academic book series, "Universal Health Coverage in Southeast Asia."
This academic book delves into the establishment and characteristics of various healthcare systems aimed at achieving universal healthcare in several Southeast Asian countries. It examines the efforts and achievements to implement medical insurance systems and expand publicly funded healthcare coverage in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Myanmar. The book also analyzes the reasons behind deepening healthcare inequality despite the goal of universal healthcare while focusing on the needs of low-income individuals, rural residents, informal workers, migrant workers, and refugees. By examining the past and present of universal healthcare coverage in Southeast Asia, the book aims to guide collaboration between Korea and other Southeast Asian countries in overcoming the growing healthcare crisis amidst the climate crisis.
