"Retrospection and Prospects of the 30th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Korea and Vietnam: Interview with a Vietnam Expert"

Abstract

In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Vietnam, this issue paper contains an interview with Professor Yangsoo Bae of the Department of Vietnamese Language at Busan University of Foreign Studies, who is the first generation to study in Vietnam and has been striving to foster exchanges between the two countries and nurturing the next generations. The story of Professor Yangsoo Bae who studied in Vietnam in the early 1990s when it was not easy to study in the communist society and established himself as a Vietnam expert in Korea, is an interesting window that shows the changes in relations between the two countries. Professor Yonghun Beak of Dankook University were specially invited to talk with Professor Yangsoo Bae about private exchange activities, nurturing the next generation through education, and the future prospects of Korea-Vietnam relations.
