The "2025 Korea-Japan Joint Academic Conference on Southeast Asian Studies" was hosted by various domestic research institutions, led by the Korean Association of Southeast Asian Studies (KASEAS). The conference brought together scholars from The Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) at Kyoto University and The Japan Society for Southeast Asian Studies (JSSEAS). We also had the honor of inviting Dr. Jafar Suryomenggolo, a visiting fellow at JISEAS and affiliated with the Centre Asie du Sud-Est in Paris, France, to Busan.

This year is especially meaningful as it marks the 20th anniversary of academic exchanges between the Korean Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (KISEAS) and CSEAS.

Passionate researchers on Southeast Asia from both Korea and Japan gathered at this joint conference under the main theme, "Crisis and Resilience: Navigating Southeast Asia’s Hybridity and Pathway in a Turbulent World." They exchanged vibrant ideas on topics ranging from gender to migration, trade, religion, and governance.

We sincerely thank everyone who participated.
